ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY STATEMENT

Whitecrest & Hurleys Ltd primarily provide business, education and health sectors with a wide range of office and general business supplies. This includes stationery, office & school furniture, business machines & consumables, packaging, facilities management products and printing.

Our own vans service Central London, South London & Surrey from our base in Sutton. We deliver nationally via couriers.

The companies’ activities have an environmental impact. We recognise our responsibility to reduce this and in order to do so we are actively taking part in the “Carbon Smart Programme”. As part of this programme areas have been identified where we can make positive changes and will act to do so. Our carbon footprint for the year 2008 was calculated as 36.39 tonnes of CO2. We have set ourselves the target of reducing our carbon footprint by 10% per employee within the 3 year programme. We believe this to be a realistic and achievable goal. However, our hope is that with continual assessments and gained knowledge through Carbon Smart, our target will be exceeded.

Our objectives for 2009 are:

1: We will take action to reduce our energy usage.

2: We will identify products used which can be reused within our organisation.

3: We will use recycled toners and paper and actively market their use to others.

4: We will take measures to minimise fuel usage within our fleet.

5: We will make every employee aware of the things they can do to reduce the
companies’ carbon footprint and encourage them to do so.

The policy is to be implemented by firstly having a board meeting dedicated to it followed by discussions with each employee to ensure awareness of its requirements of them.

The action plan will be displayed prominently in the office and warehouse. Posters and labels will be used to remind everyone to conserve and reuse.

Each director will be responsible for continually checking that policy actions are being carried out. The managing director will be the ultimate guarantor that adherence is maintained.

Assessment will be made at a monthly meeting of the directors. The managing director will hold regular discussions with each employee to check and encourage adherence to the company policy.

Every employee will be made aware that green issues are a major concern of this company and that suggestions for improvement will be welcomed and considered by the MD.
